Savage by the Grace of God, Amen. I Susan B. Savage of Athens in the County and State aforesaid being sound in mind and body, and of dispensing memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other wills heretofore made by me. 1st--I give to my son Robert A. Ware two Negro boys, one by the name of Dover (?) and the other by the name of Joe, the two oldest sons of Mary Bugg. 2nd--I give to my son Nicholas Ware four hundred dollars in money. 3rd--I give to my daughter Susan M. Epps four hundred dollars in money. 4th--I give to my daughter Caroline Virginia Head, now a widow, and her daughter Susan E. Papy, formerly Susan E. Head, wife of Matthew Papy, for their sale and separate use during life and then to their children in fee, one undivided half and majority of all that City lot in the City of Atlanta in Fulton County in said State, known and distinguished in the plan of said City as the Northern half of lots Nos. two and three, with fourteen feet in width from the Southern half of said two lots, two ????? running the whole length of said lots from Prior Street to Loyd Street, added in Block twenty-four (24) and bounded on the West by Prior Street, on the South by the southern parts of said lots two & three, on the East by Loyd Street, and on the North by lots one and four of the same block twenty four (24) containing one acre more or less bought of Phinezy(?) and Clayton of Augusta whose bond(?) for title I now hold. My will in this item being that the undivided half and majority that I give to my granddaughter, Susan E. Papy, shall be vested in her husband, Matthew Papy, as her trustee during her life, and then to her children, share and share alike, and in like manner the undivided half and majority, which I give to my daughter for life is to vest in her as long as she remains a widow and in the event of her marriage then in her husband as her trustee during life & then to her children, share and share alike. 5th--I give to my two daughters, Mary Ann L. Veitch and Carolina Virginia Head all the balance of my estate of every kind after the payment of my debts, including a debt of fifteen hundred dollars due to my daughter, Mary Ann L. Veitch. My will is that Mary Ann L. Veitch shall have her half in absolute fee simple and that my daughter Caroline Virginia Head hold her half while she remains a widow, but should she marry, then her husband is to hold the same as her trustee for her sale and separate use during her natural life, & then to her children, share and share alike. 6th--I make no provision for my son Thomas C. Ware's daughter in consequence of the peculiar attitude of the child to my family which I need not now explain. 7th--I nominate and appoint my son, Robert A. Ware, executor of this my last will and testament without bond or security. 8th--I desire my executor to sell my house and lot in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, if not sold before my death for the purpose of satisfying all my debts and money bequests. And if the proceeds of the sale are not sufficient to cover these demands, it is my desire that my executor shall keep my Negroes hired out for one year to make up the deficiency. In witness whereof I have hereunto lent my hand and seal this eleventh day of February, eighteen hundred and sixty two. Susan B. W. Mayne Wm. H. Dorsey Codicil I, Susan B. Savage, the testative(?) in the foregoing will being desirous of changing the same do for that purpose make this Codicil to said will. It is my wish and desire that the House & Lot in the town of Athens, mentioned in the 8th item of my foregoing will be not sold as therein directed, and I give the same with all the rights ???? and appentin???? to the same, belonging to my daughter, Mary Ann L. Veitch in absolute fee simple. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this the first day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and sixty five. Susan B.
