Kathleen Bell Neely moved to the Conyers area of Rockdale County, GA in January 1980 at the age of 57, residing first on Briarwood Road and then on Harvest Grove Lane. When she first moved to Rockdale County, she was a secretary at Druid Hills High School in DeKalb County, GA but retired three years later. Mrs. Neely was born April 4, 1922 in Savannah, Chatham County, GA to Marvin Barnard Bell (from Clyde, Bryan County, GA) and Nevada McClelland Bell (from Ivanhoe, Bulloch County, GA). She is the older sister of E. Lois Bell Myatt (born October 30, 1926 in Savannah). They are the descendants of Revolutionary War soldier and hero, Captain William Henry Cone (known as the "fighting parson"), who fought with Francis Marion (the "Swamp Foc") in the Carolinas before moving to Bulloch County. Kathleen Bell married Joseph Bowden Neely (born April 20, 1923 in Savannah) during World War II on August 21, 1943 in Dayton, Montgomery County, OH. Their only child, Sharlotte Kathleen Neely Donnelly, was born August 13, 1948 in Savannah. (Sharlotte Neely is an anthropology professor at Northern Kentucky University and the author of the book "Snowbird Cherokees." She is married to Thomas Christian Donnelly, born July 8, 1956 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, OH). In May, 1962, the Neely family moved to Myrtle Lane in DeKalb County. Mr. Neely, and executive whose focus was computers at Southern Railway in Atlanta, died on November 20, 1974 and is buried in Savannah's Bonaventure Cemetery. Mrs. Neely's only grandchild is Mary Kathleen Bridgette Donnelly, born April 14, 1987 in Cincinnati. Bridgette loves to visit her grandmother in Rockdale County, and they always go out to Conyer's Abby of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit to feed the ducks and geese on the monastery grounds.
