The difficulty which ended the life of young Ellison probably had its origin several years back, for it was a well known fact in the community that bad blood existed between the two. Both Dempsey and Ellison were at work at the public ginnery of R. B. Vaughn, which is near the Rockdale line. Dempsey lived in Rockdale and is the son of Jim Dempsey. He is well connected by marriage and fairly good looking. "The difficulty arose over the refusal of Ellison, said Dempsey at the jail Thursday night, "to bear his part of the labor." He says that Ellison was sitting down when he called to him to come and help him run the press down. To this Dempsie claims that Ellison began to curse him when they met with the results stated above. Marvin Ellison, the dead man, was the son of Mr. J. W. Ellison, one of the county's substantial citizens. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
