The Conyers Times May 28, 1926
     On Tuesday afternoon, May 4th, Mrs. Henry MCCALLA was the charming hostess 
to the D. A. R. The meeting was called to order by the Vice Regent, Mrs. Fannie 
Mae DABNEY. Twelve members answered roll call. After the business came the 
election of the officers. Mrs. W. V. ALMAND, who had served only one year as 
regent, resigned on account of feeble health. The election was as follows:
     Mrs. Ruth Smith MCCALLA, regent; Mrs. Fannie Mae DABNEY, first vice 
regent; Mrs. Minnie Pervis CALLAWAY, recording secretary; Mrs. Ruth Almand 
HEWLETT, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Lollie Green MCELVANY, treasurer; Mrs. 
Sadie McCalla PEEK, auditor; Mrs. Eloise Cooper CANNON, register; Mrs. G. W. 
GLEATON, chaplain; Mrs. B. F. TUCKER, historian; Mrs. Ward Hardwick GAILEY, 
parliamentarian.
     After the election of officers a very interesting program was rendered. 
Those taking part were Mr. R. D. HEWLETT, C. K. GAILEY, Mrs. Henry MCCALLA, and 
Miss Mary STANSELL,      
     Mrs. MCCALLA had as her guests Mrs. R. L. HUFF, Mrs. Tharpe BALDWIN and 
Miss Mary STANSELL. Mrs. HUFF, in her charming way, gave two beautiful readings.
     Mrs. MCCALLA, assisted by Mrs. Georgia ELLIOTT, Miss Maude MCCALLA and 
Mrs. T. J. CALLOWAY served a most tempting salad course. The June meeting will 
meet with Miss Maude MCCALLA.
