The Solid South
     The city Fathers met last Monday and elected the following officers and 
made the following appointments:
Mayor Pro Tem..................DR. M. R. STEWART
City Clerk.....................JOHN W. ALMAND
City Treasurer.................GRIER QUIGG
Marshal and Tax Collector......W. H. M. AUSTIN
Dept. Marshal..................W. B. SMITH
Street Boss....................DONALDSON F. JONES
     Committees appointed by Mayor Maddox:
Street Committee...............A. WHITAKER and A. J. OGLETREE
Finance Committee..............W. V. ALMAND and DR. M. R. STEWART
Sanitary Committee.............DR. J. A. GUINN, ANDY N. PLUNKETT
Board of Health................DR. J. A. STEWART, DR. C. H. TURNER, 
...............................DR. J. P. ROSSER
     The address of Mayor Maddox was well timed and appreciated. He showed
that $250.25 had come into the treasury from fines imposed; $73 from cemetery
deeds and $28.20 from licenses issued making a total of $351.45.
