It seems that he was on a hunt, and in crossing a fence placed his gun in a position so that he could lean upon it as a support, when, stepping down, he struck both hammers with his foot and the gun fired instantly, both loads going through his body. He died in a few moments, almost without a groan. Mr. Blankinship was well known in this vicinity , and had a good name. He was an honest, hard working man, and possessed the friendship of all who knew him. He was a brother in law of our fellow townsman, Mr. Thomas Wells, and was about thirty two years of age when he died.
