Hales Weekly May 14, 1892
~Dan CUSHION killed a mad dog in our community, recently.

~Mr. SMITH, president of the Stone Mtn. and Centerville Sunday School 
Association, will lecture at Philadelphia and Bethlehem the 2nd Sunday in June. 
Philadelphia in the forenoon, at Bethlehem in the afternoon.

~Messrs. B. H. SUMMERS and J. S. FRANCIS were delegates from Salem to the 
Convention of Stone Mountain and Centerville Sunday School Association.

~On the 4 inst. a goodly number of the noble people of this vicinity, and 
friends from other places gathered at Mr. G. T. SMITH’S store with all their 
hearts aglow with happy anticipations. They found a picnic procession and 
pursued their journey to the Stone Mountain, where they arrived at 9 o’clock a. 
m. We were there joined by a party of friends from Atlanta and elsewhere. We 
then with our loved ones, repaired to the mighty rock, where we spent three or 
four hours in viewing the scenes of nature and slipping about, which fitted us 
for the next part of the program, dinner. The contents of the well filled, 
baskets were served on a spread in the shade of the beautiful trees at the foot 
of the Mountain. It was enough to tempt the appetite of the most fastidious, 
and all that partook, did justice to the occasion. After the bounteous repast 
the members of our party amused themselves in various ways of enjoyment.
     About 5 o’clock, we bade our friends adieu and left for our homes, feeling 
that we had fully realized our previous anticipations, and arrived at our homes 
safely.

~Miss Lucy MILLER, of Atlanta, is visiting relatives in our community this week.
