H. CAPEHART and his lovely daughter, Miss Mary visited in our community last Saturday and Sunday. ~Miss Minnie MCDANIEL, a beautiful young lady of town district, visited in this vicinity Saturday and Sunday night. ~There was an enjoyable social gathering at Mrs. M. A. WOODS Saturday night. ~Miss Mattie MILLER, one of Sheffield’s fairest, is visiting relatives in Macon this week. ~The popular firm of Cannon & Wood Bros., have made an application for a post office at their place of business. It would be of much benefit to the surrounding community. ~Mr. Charlie NEWELL, a handsome young gent, visited over on our side Sunday evening. Guest of a popular young lady. ~Mr. Ben MASSEY, of Atlanta, visited his brother, Mr. Henry MASSEY, this week. ~Mr. J. A. GRAHAM and family left for South Georgia, this week. Success to you. OAK HILL NEWS ~Miss Lucy WALDIN, who has been quite sick we are glad to learn is improving. ~Messrs. Tom and Harmon BISHOP, two handsome young men of Lithonia were seen in our midst Sunday. ~Mr. R. L. WHITE and family of Atlanta are visiting his parents. ~Mrs. William BEATTIE we are sorry to learn is no better. ~There was quite an enjoyable sociable at the residence of Mr. J. I. DENNARD, Tuesday night. ~Mr. and Mrs. Zack ALMAND visited Oak Grove Vale last week. ~Mr. Tom SHIPLEY, a handsome young gent from your city visited Oak Hill last week. ~There was quite a pleasant singing at Mr. O. S. HAYGOOD’S Saturday night. ~Messrs. A. M. HELMS and Bob GUFFIN attended our Sunday School Sunday afternoon. Come again gentlemen. ~Mr. Porter PERKING of Augusta visited in this community last Sunday, guest of “well I guess we better not tell.” ~Messrs. Lon HUDSON and Henry ALMAND, is visiting friends at Monticello this week. ~Miss Exer FIELDER visited her parents at Peach Stone Shoals last Saturday and Sunday. Hales Weekly, March 11, 1892 ~Hon. John T. OGELSBY, McDonough’s handsome mayor, was over to see his bright little boys, Tinsly and Grady and other relatives this week. He gives a good report of our sister city and the grand old county of Henry. ~Hon. E. J. REAGAN, considered by all, the brightest young lawyer in Georgia, was over from McDonough this week, on a visit to his father. Mr. Joseph REAGAN. ~Charles HOWARD, of DeKalb, was found guilty of murder, and sentenced to be hanged April 29. ~Rev. J. A. REYNOLDS, of Conyers was in town Sunday and preached at the Methodist Church. New Era. ~Miss Leila GAY, a charming young lady of Lithonia, was down on a visit to relatives this week. ~Dr. QUIGG was greatly improved by his trip to Cuba and Florida. He has many interesting things to say of his trip. ~Mr. James P. HALE, formerly of Eatonton has moved to Conyers. ~Mr. J. S. ALMAND has been on a visit to Eatonton this week. ~Mrs. M. A. LANGFORD has returned from a protracted visit to her mother in Newton County and her son Mr. D. C. Langford in Walton County. ~We welcome Mr. Bill BROWN and his estimable lady, Mrs. Mollie, to our town. They will board with Mr. and Mrs. John HUFF, on Wallis Street. ~Mrs. R. K. BENNETT of Loganville is in town, visiting her daughter, Mrs. N. T. STREET. ~Miss Maggie DAVIS, of Covington was up on a visit to her sister, Mrs. A. J. SUMMERS this week. ~Miss Willie PEEK has been quite sick but is much improved. ~Clever King STEWART of Covington, was up the other day. ~Charley CAIN, of Walnut Grove was over to see his little one last week. ~John QUILL’S obituary of the SOLID SOUTH was very tender. ~Remember you will find Col. Robert IRWIN upstairs in the Night building, first door to the left. ~Mr. F. F. WESLEY, of Lithonia was in the city Thursday on business. ~We are glad to see Walker GLENN out again. ~Mr. A. J. ALMAND, of Lithonia was in the city Wednesday. ~Mr. Heaper RAINWATER is a citizen of Green County. He would be a good man to have around during the summer. ~Our young friend Noon HUDSON was down on a visit to relatives Sunday. Noon is looking well and has bright prospects in his chosen profession. ~Col. GLENN is still confined to his room. Henry REAGAN can give you a good shave or hair cut. Give him your patronage. ~Aunt Ann FLEMMING has been quite sick for some time. ~In company with our genial friend Mr. M. C. SUMMERS, we went out to the home of friend Robert CANNON last Friday. We found the people of Sheffield well up with their work and preparing to make a plenty to eat at home. Our thanks are due Mrs. CANNON for her kind hospitality and to Mr. CANNON and friend Sammy WOOD for courtesies shown. ~Dr. GLENN assisted by Mr. McCager WHITE and Capt. J. M. WHITE, has been doing a great deal of valuable work on the road loading from Conyers to Sheffield via Pine Log Bridge. ~We extend congratulations to preacher DILLARD. It’s a fine boy. ~Miss Madge BIGHAM, of Covington is visiting her sister Miss Lewie BIGHAM at this place.
