Armistead Dead. BURIED AT HIS HOME SUNDAY EVENING Mr. James A. Armistead died last Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. L. Shipley, in this county. Mr. Armistead had suffered with several slight attacks of paralysis, but about two weeks ago he had a severe attack resulting in his death. Mr. Armistead was a remarkably strong man of his age and all through his last sickness showed wonderful strength and vitality. He was born in Putnam County on 23rd of October 1807 which would make him at the time of his death a little over 84 years of age. Mr. Armistead was not a member of any church, but always attended the Primitive Baptist church and strong in faith. His remains were carried to his old home at Alcova Sunday and buried in the family graveyard. Although the day was very disagreeable the rain pouring in torrents, a large crowd gathered to perform the last sad rites to their old neighbor and friend, showing the high regard his home people had for him. A good citizen has gone- peace to his ashes. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
