H. Cooper, of Sheffield district, was instantly killed last Saturday morning while topping a tree in his front yard. He had cut the tree and came down to wait for it to fall. His wife came to the door and he told her to take the child and go into the dining room as the tree might fall on the house. When his wife heard the tree fall she went to the door and saw Mr. Cooper lying on the ground near the tree. She ran to him and called him, but soon found that he was dead. She gave the alarm for help and the neighbors came to her assistance at once. It is thought that he had gone back and hit the tree another lick, or a wind blew it off unexpected to him, striking the right side of his head and crushing it in. He was an enterprising, energetic and prosperous young farmer and the county loses a good citizen.. He was 31 years of age and had been married about two years. He leaves a wife and child and a host of friends and relatives, to mourn his sad death. He was a devoted member of the Camp Springs Christian Church, of Sheffield. Rev. B. W. Golightly preached his funeral at Corinth, in Walton County, last Sunday at 1 o’clock and his remains were buried Masonically, in the cemetery at that place.
