C. WHITAKER HURT The horrible accident which occurred early Tuesday night in which Mr. Joe Carter was instantly killed and County Policeman, Wilson C. Whitaker was seriously injured came as a severe shock to the community. Mr. Carter and Mr. Whitaker were on their way to Atlanta, just two miles above town, when a front tire blew out and the car turned over three times on a straight road. Mr. Carter's neck was broken and his skull fractured. Mr. Whitaker suffered a broken collar bone and other injuries. He was carried to an Atlanta hospital the following afternoon. Mr. Carter, who was 27 years of age, is survived by his wife, his father, J. W. Carter, his brother, J. J. Carter, of Atlanta, and a sister, Mrs. W. S. Marks, of Atlanta. Funeral services were held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 6 o'clock by Rev. T. M. Calloway. Interment in East View Cemetery.
