Miss Orrie Hollingsworth entered into rest after a brief illness, July 2, 1886. In early girlhood she gave her heart to the Savior, and united with the Presbyterian Church at Smyrna. Miss Orrie spent her life in the community in which she was born, beloved by all as a lady of incorruptible principle, sterling worth, and died honored and esteemed by everyone, leaving the heritage of a good name, fragrant as ointment poured forth. Modest and retiring in disposition, she served the Master humbly and unobtrusively, adorning the doctrine of God, our Savior, with a meek and gentle spirit. Kindness characterized her intercourse with her friends whom she impressed as a lady of earnest piety. Her home life exemplified the power of grace and beauty of that charity which “thinketh no evil, but rejoiceth in the truth.” She ever manifested a deep interest in all that pertained to the advancement of Christ’s kingdom. she loved the Sunday School, encouraged the young men’s prayer meeting, which was well pleasing in the sight of her Redeemer. She “finished her course” and calmly fell asleep in Jesus. While we cannot but mourn the loss of an earnest soldier of the cross, let us comfort our hearts with the assurance that “if Christ died and rose again, even so _____ also which sleep in Jesus will god bring with him. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth; yes, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors and their works do follow them.” “Why lament the Christian dying? Why indulge the tears or gloom? Calmly on the Lord relying. He can greet the opening tomb.” Smyrna, July 6th, 1886, J. A. C.
