November 16, 1878
     Several deaths among our old citizens during the past week. First, Mr. 
Sharpe, father-in-law to Rev. C. C. White and C. Turner, very aged, a member of 
the Baptist Church at Zion, and a remarkably pure man. Next perhaps, Mrs. 
Clotfelter of the Smyrna neighborhood, passed away also a member of the Baptist 
communion. In addition to these Mr. Anderson Veal, an aged and successful man 
and member of the Methodist Church, after a brief attack, passed away on the 
night of the 13th. We deeply sympathize with our aged old friend, Humphrey 
Posey, Esq. whose more aged companion is fast yielding to decay, and will not 
likely see the going out of another year.
     Peace to the bereaved and strength to the sufferers.

Thomas Sharp was born January 23, 1798 and died Nov 11, 1878
according to his tombstone in the Sharp Family Cemetery in
Covington, Newton County, Georgia.  He married Ann Elizabeth
Morton. She was born February 23, 1797 and died May 10, 1881,
per her headstone in the same cemetery.

C. C. White is Christopher C. White.  His married Arabella Sharp, daughter
of Thomas & Ann E. Sharp.

Columbus W. Turner married Martha J. Sharp, daughter of Thomas & Ann E. Sharp
on December 20, 1860 in Newton County by C. C. White, MG, record # 102243
