The Solid South, February 20, 1886
     Absalom A. Thomason, an aged citizen of Gwinnett County, died last Sunday 
at his home near Snellville, and was buried at Philadelphia Church in this 
county Tuesday, Rev. M. H. Wesley officiating at the grave. The old man had 
long been a member of the Methodist Church at Philadelphia. He was about 85 
years old and his feeble health deprived him of the privileges of the public 
sanctuary, yet he enjoyed the favor of God’s loving presence, till at last he 
heard the Savior say, “it is enough, come up higher.”
