Solid South,  November 28, 1885
     A Negro child about four years old was burned to death in Sheffield 
district last Thursday. The Negro woman lived on Mrs. Francis place near old 
Sheffield. She left the children at the house and went in a neighbors house to 
wash. The screams of the child attracted the attention of some one picking 
cotton near by and when they reached the house the clothes had been burned 
entirely off the child. It died in a few hours.
