Wood is Called Home In the early hours of Monday, May 3rd, the sweet spirit of Mr. S. H. Wood was called to the Heavenly Home. He had been in Wesley Memorial Hospital for some weeks and everything done it was possible to relieve him of his sufferings that he might return to be with his loved ones again. Sadness overspread our hearts when we realize that he is gone, yet his was an abiding trust that God was ever with him even through the darkest hours. Religion, pure and undefiled was the ideal of his quiet, manly life. He lived not for self but for others, his family, his friends, his church and his God whom he so trusted. To estimate the value of his life is impossible, but the world is made better and brighter by him having spent the years of his earthly pilgrimage with us and the benefit will be seen in the reflected influence on other lives through many coming years. Mr. Wood was 69 years of age and joined Bethel Christian Church in its infancy while listening to his brother, John H. Wood, and was baptized by this wonderful man of God, he being 32 years of age at that time. Funeral services were conducted at the Conyers Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock by Rev. L. O. Bricker of the Peachtree Christian Church, Atlanta, assisted by Rev. T. M. Callaway and Rev. J. H. Wood, of Rome, conducted a short service, with interment in Bethel Cemetery. Mr. Wood is survived by two brothers, J. H. Wood, of Rome, M. L. Wood, of Conyers, one sister, Mrs. Mattie Wood Minor, of Stone Mountain and several nephews and nieces.
