He and his wife(Mary Elizabeth) are buried in Ellaville cemetary in the Thomas Asa Collins family plot with prominant headstones). He was the first child of Enoch F. and Rebecca Collins. When he was about 5 years of age he and his parents moved to Marion County (now Taylor County) to a farm about six miles south of Butler. In 1858 Jesse Thomas married Mary Elizabeth Murray (1840-1917). They had eight children (John G. in 1861; Thomas Asa in 1862 (my grandfather); Mary R. in 1864; Julia M. in 1867; Joann O. in 1868; William H. in 1872; Stephen C. in 1875; and Enoch E. in 1878). In 1862 he joined Company G, 6th Regiment Georgia Volunteer Infantry Army of Tennessee, Confederate Army where he served as private. In 1873, Jesse Thomas, his wife and children moved from his farm in Taylor County to a farm in Murrays Crossroads, Schley County just north of Ellaville. Then in 1908 Jesse Thomas and Mary Elizabeth moved to a farm he owned in Bronwood where he lived until his death in 1913.
