In memory of Sister Tatum Our sister Caroline Tatum departed this life Dec. 28, 1906. She has been a member of the church ever since we can remember, been a faithful member all of the time. She was always ready to go to church to hear the word of God. Her seat is vacant at our church. She was about 86 years old when she died. She leaves three children to mourn her loss and a good many grandchildren. She is not dead but sleeping till the resurrection day is come. Dear children don’t weep but live to meet her on the shore where there will be no more parting. She is not dead but sleepth. She has only gone on before to rest in the bliss of paradise on the lovely shining shore. Resolve 1st that in the death of Sister Tatum this church has lost one of her most faithful members; the home circle one of it’s lovely members. Resolve 2nd that in this dispensation of an all wise providence, we bow in humble submission to the will of him who doeth all things well, believing that our loss is her eternal gain. Resolve 3rd that we extend eternal Christian sympathy to the bereaved family, praying that her grace may be sufficient for them. Resolve 4th that these resolutions be spread on a separate page of our church record. Mrs. E.R. In Memory of Sister Sarah Driver Our beloved Sister at the ripe age of four score years and two was called from earth to her last reward Feb. 20, 1908. Mrs. Driver (nee Gibbons) was born in Lawrence, Ga. Nov. 25, 1824. Was married to Daniel Driver Feb. 12, 1845. After marriage, she and her husband came to make their home in our Sister Sumter (county) and after residing there one year, moved to Schley Co. where they continued to reside until her husband was by some years called to come up higher. Sister Driver continued as a widow with a large family of children and has lived these many years true to every trust committed and lived to see all of her children come to manhood and womanhood. She was for many years a consistent member of Ebenezer Baptist church though in her days of feeble health she was not permitted to attend as was her former delight. She bore her last illness with patience and fortitude only as a Christian and died triumphant in a living faith. She leaves 3 sons & 5 daughters and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Therefore, be it resolved: 1st , that in her death the church sustains the loss of one of its true & tried members. The family, an amiable and affectionate mother, the community, a most splendid neighbor. 2nd, that we tender our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and pray God’s richest blessings to abide with them. 3rd, that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon our church record and a copy sent the bereaved family and thus suitable mentions of her death be sent to the Schley Co. News and Christian Index for publication. Respectfully submitted: R.M. Rainey, J.S. Womack, and W.J. Reid—Committee Sept. 26, 1908 Ebenezer Baptist Church met in conference.
