Document, Schley Co. Courthouse Written: February 8, 1858 Georgia, Schley County To the Superior Court of said county. The petition of Hyram L. French who sues for the use of the firm of Haviland, Harrell & Risley, respectfully showeth that Lydia McMurrain of said county, is indebted to him in the sum of eighty dollars besides interest on a promissory note dated the eight day of February in the year Eighteen Hundred and Fifty- Eight payable to said Hyram L. French or bearer and due on the first day of January then next, a copy of which is hereunto attached, which said promissory note the said Lydia McMurrain refuses to pay: Wherefore your petitioner prays process may issue requiring the said Lydia McMurrain to be and appear at the next Superior Court of said County, to answer your petitioner's complaint. Sullivan & Brown, Plaintiff's Attorneys Copy: $80.00 Pond Town February 8th 1858 On the first day of January next, I promise to pay H.L. Nathaniel Renfroe, Foreman Schley Superior Court October term 1860 Whereupon it is considered & adjudged by this court that the plaintiff do recover of the defendant the sum of Eighty Dollars principle debt & the sum of Ten Dollars and Twenty-Five Cents for their interest to the 25th day of October 1860 & also the further sum of Ten Dollars & Sixty Cents for their costs of suit in this behalf laid out & expended & the deft---mercy & c.
