Document, Schley Co. Courthouse Written: February 22, 1873 GEORGIA, SCHLEY COUNTY To the Superior court of said county: The petition of G.J. Bruce respectfully showeth that S.R. Hobbs of said county is indebted to him in the sum of two hundred seventy-five dollars besides interest on a promissory note dated 22nd day of February, Eighteen Hundred and Seventy-Three payble to G.J. Bruce or bearer and due at date, a copy of which is hereunto attached which said promissory note the said S.R. Hobbs refuses to pay: Wherefore, your petitioner prays process may issue requiring the said S.R. Hobbs to be and appear at the next Superior Court of said county, to answer your Petitioner's complaint. C.B. Hudson, Plaintiff's attorney. COPY We or either of us promises to pay G.J. Bruce or bearer two hundred seventy- five dollars for value received. This Feb. 22, 1873. S.R. Hobbs A.J. Hobbs GEORGIA, SCHLEY COUNTY To all & singular, the sheriffs of said state. Greeting-- We command you that the goods and chatels, land & tenaments of S.R. Hobbs you cause to be made the sum of two hundred seventy-five dollars principal and the further sum of (blank) interest, up to the 22nd day of Feb. 1873 & also the further sum of Eleven 50/100 dollars coast with interest on the principal sum from the 22nd day Feb 1873 which G.J. Bruce lately in our Superior court for said county received against S.R. Hobbs for principal, interest & cost-- have you the several sums of money before the judge of said court on the 4th Monday in October next to tender to the said G.J. Bruce for principal, interest and cost aforesaid & have you then & there this writ. Witness the Hon. James M. Clark, judge of said court, this the 6 day of November 1875. J.N. Cheney, Clerk GEORGIA, SCHLEY COUNTY In person appeared S.R. Hobbs guardian for Louise (or Louisa) M. Hobbs, Mary V. Hobbs, Jonathan Hobbs, Laurah(?) A. Hobbs, Burton (or Barton, Bartow) Hobbs & Pascal Hobbs, who being duly sworn says that north half of lot of land number two hundred and twelve in the third district, originally Muscogee, now Schley county, which has been levied upon by R.C. Meadows, sheriff of said county by virtue of a fifa issued from the Superior court of said county in favor G.J. Bruce against S.R. Hobbs as the property of his wards Louisa M., Mary V., Jonathan W., Anastata (Anastastia?), Lourah A., Burton and Pascal Hobbs. Sworn to and subscribed before me Jany 1st 1876. S.R. Hobbs, Guardian & c. J.H. Daniel, Not-Pub Ex Off J.P. GEORGIA, SCHLEY COUNTY In person before me appeared the undersigned S.R. Hobbs guardian for Louisa M., Mary V., Jonathan W., Anastatia, Laurah A., Burton and Pascal Hobbs who on oath says he does not interpose this claim for delay only that he bonfafide claims the right and title to the sum as guardian aforesaid that he is advised and believes the said claim will be sustained and that from poverty he is unable to give bond and security as now required(?) by court. Hobbs to appear and produce a bond for the above mentioned land. They bear dates in 1877 & early 1879. Then comes the following document.) GEORGIA, SCHLEY COUNTY In person appeared before the undersigned, a notary Pub & Ex Off J.P. in & for said county, James A. Hobbs (&) C(harles) J(ames) Woodall as agent for his wife A(deline) M(alich) Woodall & A.J. Hobbs as naturaql guardian for George T., Jonathan I., Mary E., Eli, Laura, Homer V. & Joseph W. Hobbs, who after being duly sworn deposes & says that a certain tract or parcel of land to wit: South half of lot of land number two hundred & twelve in the 3rd District of originally Muscogee and now Schley ounty,Bru which has been levied on by T.B. Myers, sheriff od said county by virtue of a fif fa issued from the Superior court of said county in favor of G.J. Bruce against S.R. Hobbs as the property of said S.R. Hobbs, as the property of James A. Hobbs, A.M. Woodall, George T., Jonathan I., Mary E., Eli, Laura, Homer V. & Joseph W. Hobbs and is not the property of said S.R.
