Schley County
This Indenture made and entered into this 5th day of January
A.D. Eighteen Hundred and Sixty between John C. Albritton of
the State and County aforesaid and Edward Brooks of the same
place of the other part.  Witnesseth that the said John
Albritton for and in consideration of the sum of Eleven
Hundred Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the
delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold and released and
conveyed and do so by these presents, grant, bargain, sell
and convey unto the said Edward Brooks, his heirs and
assigns, one half of an undivided interest in a certain lot
of land No. Sixty-One (61) in the 3d District of originally
Muscogee now Schley County, containing two hundred two and a
half acres more or less, to have and to hold the said tract
or parcel of land to him the said Edward Brooks, his heirs
and assigns together with all and singular the rights
members and appartenances thereunto belonging to his and
their own proper use, benefit and behoof forever in “Fee
Simple” and the said John C. Albritton for himself, his
heirs, administrators and executors the said bargained
premises to the said Edward Brooks his heirs and assigns
will warrant and forever defend the right and title whereof
against the claims or all person or persons whatever.  In
witness whereof the said John Albritton hath hereunto
affixed his seal the day and year above written.
