McCrory formerly Janie W. Cleghorn of said State and County and Catherine C. Scovill formerly Catherine C. Cleghorn of the State of Georgia Schley County, Witnesses that for and inconsideration of the natural love and affection the said Janie W. McCrory has for her sister Catherine C. Scovill she hereby grants and conveys unto the said Catherine C. Scovill her heirs and assigns her undivided one fourth interest in the following described tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the Town of Ellaville, Schley County Georgia viz. the one fourth undivided interest in that parcel of land situated on the North West corner of the Public Square in the Town of Ellaville, known and distinguished as the Hotel Lot consisting of lots numbers one (1) and three (3) four (4) and five (5) on plat of the Town of Ellaville, bouned (bounded) on the North by a public Street running West from the North-West Corner of the Public Square on the West by a street running South to the Corner of another street running East thence to the South West corner of a lot number two (2) on which the Store House now occupied by H. Scarborough the upstairs of said House used as a dwelling by the said H. Scarborough and on the East by the Public Square running North from the North East corner of said H. Scarborough lot containing ¾ acre more or less together with all the rights and privileges thereto belonging forever in fee Simple. In Witness Whereof the said Janie W. Cheney Clerk State of Georgia County of Schley This indenture made this the fourth (4th) (missing, cut off in copying) 1889, between Mary Isabella McCrory of said State and County of Macon and Catherine Cleghorn (missing) of said State and County of Schley, Witneseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and Twenty Dollars and fifty cents, (missing) paid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the (missing) whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted bargained (missing) conveyed and conferred and by these presents does grant bargain (missing) alien, convey and confer unto the said Catherine C. Scovill (cut off) said State and County, her heirs and assigns her undivided one fourth interest in the tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the Town of Ellaville, known and distinguished as the Hotel Lot consisting of lots No. one (1) three (3) four (4) and five (5) on plat of the Town of Ellaville, bounded on the North by a public Street running West from the North-West Corner of the Public Square and on the West by a street running South to the Corner of another street running East thence to the South West corner of a lot number two (2) on which the Store House of H. Scovill of County of Schley said State for and inconsideration of the sum of Fifteen Hundred ($1500.00) Dollars in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged doth grant, bargain, sell, alien and convey unto R.C. Wells of the County of Sumter said State heirs and assigns, the following property, to wit: All that piece or parcel of land situated, lying and being on the N.W. corner of the Public Square of the Town of Ellaville, known and distinguished as the Ellaville Hotel Lot consisting of lots numbers one (1) Three (3) Four (4) and Five (5) on the plat of the Town of Ellaville, bounded on the North by a Public Street running West from the N.W. corner of the Public Square, on the West by a street running South to the Corner of another street running East thence to the South West corner of a lot no. (2) Two on which the Store House formerly occupied by Meadows and Allen now occupied by H. Scarborough and on the East by the Public Square running North from the North East corner of said H. Scarborough lot containing Two (2) acres more or less being all of said lots, nos one, Three, Four, and Five situated in the Town of Ellaville, said County in the 30th Land Dist. To have and to hold the bargained premises with all singular the rights to members and appurtenances thereto appertaining o the only proper use, benefit and behoof of him the said R. C. Wells his heirs executors, and administrators and assigns in fee Simple, and the said C. C. Scovill the said bargained premises unto the said R. C. Wells his heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns and against all other persons whomsoever will forever defend the right and title to the aforesaid described property. McCrory and Mary Isabella Cleghorn were married in the Ellaville Hotel on December 5, 1875. The ceremony was witnessed by the groom's brother, Col. C.R. McCrory, and by the bride's sister, Janie C.
