Mr. J.N. Cheney

Dear Friend,

I am indebted to the firm of Meadows & Co. for a small amt (amount) of about 
seventy-five dollars, and expect to be absent for some time and am not 
prepared to pay them a cent.  Therefore I have taken the liberty of giving 
them an order upon you for the amt (amount) due me as Marshall.

Additional Comments:
Homer Burton was the only son of Capt. Robt. Burton, father of Ellaville's 
namesake.  Dr. John Newton Cheney was Clerk of the Superior Court of Schley 
County at this time.
