April 17, 1924 To the Ordinary of Schley Co.: Dear Sir, If Mr. O.R. Jones comes to you after a marage licens for my daughter Miss Vera Womack you may let him have them for I dont have no objection, none what so ever. I am oblidge and yours truly. Mrs. Bonnie Womack Additional Comments: Apparently there was some requirement in the late teens and early 1920's for parents who did not wish for their children to be issued marriage licenses to notify the Ordinary of any county they thought one might be obtained. I don't know this for fact but have seen several notices forbidding the issuance of a marriage license to their young daughters. In a number of those cases, it was a preprinted form addressed to the Ordinary. The sender filled in the county and address as well as the names of the subject young people. This is the only one I have seen that authorizes a marriage. Vera Womack married O.R. Jones in Schley Co., on 25 Dec 1924. In the 1930 census Vera and Oscar were living in Howard, Taylot Co., and had two children.
