T. Guy states that he resides in Butler, Taylor Co., Ga; was born April 18, 1839 in Talbot Co., Ga; was conscripted and entered service Sept. 1863 in Marion Co., Ga; was sent to Virginia where he joined Co K 12th Ga Regt; served until captured April 10, 1864 and was sent to Elmira Prison where he remained until the end of the war; not sure where his company and regiment were at the time of the surrender but was sure they were with Lee's Army; he is unable to earn a living; occupation since 1865 was farming on rented land as large as he was able to work; he is applying for a pension due to infirmity and poverty; he has been unable to work for 10 to 12 years having suffered from rheumatism and is completely disabled; income is nothing; have sold, transfered or given nothing away; has nothing; returned no taxes for land but paid $5.oo for household goods in taxes; has been supported by his children; he contributed nothing to his own support and does not know what it cost; his family consists of his wife and daughter, has no homestead, no means of support except by their labor; is not receiving a pension but did file for one in 1899 which was disproved; filing an indigent soldier application. Guy and is from Buena Vista, Marion County GA; has known applicant since 1857; applicant lives in Taylor County and has always lived in Georgia; applicant and I joined Co K 12 Ga Reg't in Virginia Army in 1863; I served about 8 months ;command surrendered 9th Apr 1865 at or near Petersbury Va; I was captured a few days prior to surrender; I left applicant in prison in 1864 thus he was not present at surrender; applicant was captured Apr 10th, 1864; I was captured with him and afterwards exchanged and went to my command and was recaptured; have no means of knowing how much income, property or effects he has; since 1896 he has left Marion County; applicant was a farmer when able to work but appears to be physically unable to work; don't know how he was supported for the years 1898 - 1901; I think he is mentally and physically unable to support himself or contribute there to. B. T. Peacock 3rd Day of Sept 1902 E. B. Reese Clerk Superior Court Marion Co Ga AFFIDAVIT OF PHYSICIANS State of Georgia Taylor County The physicians for T. T. Guy's 1902 Pension Application were J. G. White and W. W. Edwards (J. G. White and W. C. Bateman were the physicians who examined him in 1899). Their assessment of T. T. Guy's precise physical condition was as follows: Chronic rheumatism of left hip and both legs - irritations of bladder resulting from hypertrophy of prostate gland - also internal hemorroids and defective urinal - he is not able to do manual labor. 4 day of Sept 1902 J. G. White M. D. J. E. Davant Ordinary W. W. Edwards M. D. Additional Comments: T. T. Guy drew a pension until 1907. His last application was made the 4th day of January 1907 in Taylor County Georgia. He died 23 Sep 1907 in Schley Co., GA and is buried in Pleasant Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Schley Co., Ga. Harris Hill has posted a photo of his marker on the Schley County page. T. T. Guy was the brother of Mary Cathleen Guy Meadows second wife of Vincent T. Meadows. Thomas T. Guy married Emily Mildred Meadows 7 Jul 1867 in Marion Co., GA. She was the daughter of Vincent T. and Martha King Meadows.
