Ethridge of said state and county, desiring to avail himself of the pension act approved December 15th 1894, hereby submits his proofs, and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the following questions, deposes and answers as follows: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? Green T. Ethridge Schley Co., Ga. Schley P.O. 2. Where did you reside on January 1st, 1894, and how long have you been a resident of this state? Resided Schley Co. 1894. Been in state all my life. 3. When and where were you born? Wilkinson Co., Ga. 4. When and where and in what company and regiment did you enlist or serve? Enlisted in Company B, 1864, Third Ga. Regiment. 5. How long did you remain in such company and regiment? About 12 months. 6. For how long a period did you discharge regular military duty? 10 or 11 months. 7. When, where and under what circumstances where you discharged from service? April 1, 1865 at macon, Ga. I was discharged at ??????? of the war. 8. What is your present occupation? Farming 9. How much can you earn per annum by your own exertions or labor? nothing. 10. What has been your occupation since 1865? Farming. 11. Upon which of the following grounds do you base your application for pension, viz.: first "age and poverty." second "infirmity and poverty" or third "blindness and poverty"? first ground. 12. If upon the first ground, state how long you have been in such condition that you could not earn your support? If upon the second, give a full and complete history of the infirmity and its extent? If upon the third, state whether you are totally blind and when and where you lost your sight? I have been for 1 inter mo???? not be able to earn my support. 13. What property, effects or income do you possess and it gross value? nothing. 14. What property, effects or income did you possess in 1894, 1895, 1896 and what disposition, if any, di you make of same? own no property in 1894 & 1895. 15. In what county did you reside during those yers and what property did you then return for taxation? Resided in Schley Co. Retn. no property for taxation. 16. How were you supported during the years 1895 and 1896? supported by son. 17. How much did your support cost for each of those years and what portion did you contribute thereto by your own labor or income? support cost me about 50.00. I contributed nothing. 18. What was your employment during 1895 and 1896? What pay did you receive in each year? Had no employment. Received no pay. 19. Have you a family? If so, who composes such family? Give their means of support? Have they a homestead? Have no family. 20. Are you receiving any pension, id so what amount and for what disability? No pension. Green T. Mulder, of said state and county, having been presented as a witness in support of the application of Green T. Ethridge for pension under the Act approved December 15th, 1894, and being duly sworn true answers to make to the following questions, deposes and answers as follows: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? Andrew T. Mulder Schley County, Georgia 2. Are you acquainted with Green T. Etheridge, the applicant, is of (if so?), how long have you known him? I have known him for 30 years. 3. Where does he reside, and how long has he been a resident of this state? Resides in Schley County--been a esident for thirty years I know. 4. Do you know of his having served in the Confederate army or the Georgia Militia? How do you know this? I know he served in the Confederate Army because he was in the same company I was, Company F. 5. When were and in what company and regiment did he enlist? In the year '64, he inlisted at Andersonville, Ga. in company F & Third Regiment. 6. Were you a member of the same company and regiment? I was member of same company& regiment. 7. How long did he perform regular military duty, and what do you know of his service as a Confederate soldier, and the time and circumstances of his dischharge from the service? He perform military duty from July 1864 until the terminus(?) of the war. Made a good soldier, I do not know under what circumstances he was discharged. 8. What property, effects or income has the applicant? Do not know of any property he has. I do not know whether he has income or not. 9. What property, effects or income did the applicant possess in 1895 and 1896, and what disposition, if any di he make of same? I do not know what property he had in 1895 & 1896. 10. What is the applicant's occupation and physical condition? Framing. Very feeble. 11. Is the applicant unable to support himself by labor of any sort, if so, why? Not able to support himself by labor of any sort, old age and feebleness. 12. How was he supported during the years 1895 and 1896? Do not know. 13. What portion of his support for these two years was derived from his own labor or income? Do not know. 14. Give full and complete statement of the applicant's physical condition that entitles him to a pension under the Act of December 15th, 1894. Old age, poverty. 15. AFFIDAVIT OF PHYSICIANS State of Georgia Schley County Personally came before me Dr. R.T. Bivens & B.L. Bridges, both known to me as reputable physicians of said county, who being severally sworn, say on oath that they have examined carefully Green T. Ethridge, applicant for pension under the Act of 1894, and after such personal examination say that his precise physical condition is as follows: He is very old & feeble & unable to do manual labor, continuously suffering from incontinence of urine, caused by prostate glans. We further say on oath that the physical condition of applicant renders him unable to labor at any work or calling sufficient to earn a support for himself, and that we have no interest in said pension being allowed. B.L. Bridges, MD R.T. Bivins, MD Sworn to and subscribed before me this the 9th day of January 1897. P.E. Taylor, Ordinary. Green T. Ethridge's refiling on the 10th of January, 1900 icludes his statement that he had resided continuously in the state of Georgia in the 1st day of Aug., 1830 and that he was 79 years old. In 1901, he gives that same date as 10 Aug 1830. STATEMENT OF E.T. LIGHTNER This is a handritten statement on the very ornate staionary of the Court of Ordinary of Schley County, Phil E. Taylor, Ordinary. Georgia Schley County Personally appeared before me, P.E. Taylor, Ordinary of said county, Eli Lightner, who after being duly sworn deposeth and says to question No. 8,9 & 13. Answer to No. 8--has no property of any kind because I am his near neighbor. Answer to No. 9--Had no property in 1895 & 1896. Answer to No. 13-- very little if any was derived from his own exertions. Richard Johnson (?) c/o Pension Dept. Atlanta, Ga. Dear Sir: Have you pension blank filled out for Green T. Ethridge of Schley County. He is a deserving old man about 75 years old and very feeble and got no property of any kind and I am stisfied he ougyt to draw a pension under this Act of 1894. Yours truly, Phil E. Taylor, Ordy. Add'l Info: Green T. Ethridge is buried at Concord cemetery. His stone simply states age 82. In the 1864 Schley Co.
