Dykes of said state and county, hereby applies for the pension provided by Act 1910, as amended by Act of 1919, to Confederate Soldiers, and submits his sworn statement, with his testimony to make out the same, and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the questions propounded, answers as follows, to- wit: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? W.W. Dykes--Schley County, Ellaville, Ga. 2. How long and since when have you been a continuous resident citizen of this state? All my life. 3. Did you enlist in the Army of the Confederate States or in the organized militia of this state from 1861 to 1865? I enlisted in the of 1864. 4. When, where and in what company and regiment did you enlist? 1864, Andersonville. Co. C, 2nd Ga. Rserves. 5. How long did you remain in the actual military service with said company and regiment? about 9 months--April 1865. 6. When and where was your company and regiment surrendered or discharged from the service? Albany, Ga. 7. Were you actually present with your command when it was surrendered or discharged? Yes. 8a. thru 8h. n/a 8i. Were you captured during the war? No. 8j. n/a 9. Are you drawing a pension of any amount from this State or the United States? No. 10. Austin of said state and county is hereby presented as a witness in support of the application o W.W. Dykes for the pension provided by the Act of 1910, as amended by the Act of 1919 in said state, and after being sworn true answers to make to the questions propounded, answers as follows: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? John T.P. Austin Madison, Morgan County, Georgia. 2. How long and since when have you known W.W. Dykes, the applicant? Since 1864. 3. Where does he now reside, and since when has he been a bona fide, continuing resident in this state, and how do you know? Ellaville, all of his life. I know it by keeping in touch with him. 4. When, where and in what company and regiment did W.W. Dykes enlist during war from 1861 to 1865? July 1864, Andersonville, Ga., Co. C, 2nd Ga. Reserves. 5. How did you obtain your information of this service? He was my mess mate in the same company. 6. How long within your own personalknowledge did he perform actual ,ilitary service with this Company and Regiment? from July 1864 to April 1865. 7. When and where was his command surrendered or discharged? April 1865 Albany, Ga. 8. Were you personally present at the surrender? Yes. 9. n/a 10. Was the applicant personally present with his command at surrender? Yes. 11. n/a 12. When did he leave his command? At surrender, disbanded. Where was his command when he left it? Disbanded. Dykes-Schley_ Let applicant amend and state name of his Colonel, Lt. Col., and Major. There are several 2d Regiments-Give field officers that we may locate-prove all statements made to be true. Georgia Schley County W.W. Dykes, applicant for pension under Act 1910 as amended by Act of 1919, makes this amendment to his application as required by the Hon. Commissioner of Pensions, that he enlisted in the summer of 1864, at Andersonville, Ga. Co. C, 2nd Ga. Reserves, his Colonel's name was Jones, does not remember the names of Lieut. Col. or Major. W.W. Dykes Sworn to and subscribed before me this the 25th day of May 1920. C.R. Tondee Georgia Morgan County John T.P. Austin as witness for W.W. Dykes, says that he was in the war with W.W. Dykes, Co. C, 2nd Reserves and that the Colonel's name was Robert Maddox, Li(e)ut. Col. name was Jones, Majors was don't remember. Adjutatnt Bassett (or Barrett). John T.P. APPLICATION FOR PENSION BY A WIDOW Whose Deceased Husband Was on the Pension Rol of Georgia. (Not to be used by the Widow of a Disabled soldier Pensioner.) State of Georgia Schley County Personally before me comes Mrs. Fannie E. Dykes of said county, who, after having been duly sworn, says that she is the widow of W.W. Dykes to whom, in the county of Schley, state of Georgia, she was married on the 12th day of Feby. 1874 and that she remained his wife, and resided with him to the date of his death in 4th (Oct.) 1927 and that she has not since his death remarried; at the time of his death he was a resident of Schley County, in said State of Georgia, and he was on the Confederate pension roll of the state and paid a pension of $200.00 in Schley County for 1926/1927, on account of being a soldier in Company C, 2nd Ga. Reserves. That she is now a bona ide resident citizen of said State of Georgia and she has, continuously, resided there since 2nd day of Jan, 1854. Fannie E. Dykes Sworn to and subscribed before me, this the 12th day of Oct. 1927. W.C. Stewart, Ordinary of Schley County. (Note: A copy of the marriage license in the file indicates that the marriage took place in Macon County.) AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS TO PROVE MARRIAGE AND DATE OF DEATH OF HUSBAND State of Georgia Schley County Personally before me comes T.C. Tondee known to be a responsible and truthful person, residing in said county, who after having been duly sworn, says that of deponent's own personal knowledge, Mrs. Fannie E. Dykes, who made the forgoing affidavit, is the lawful widow of W.W. Dykes, who died in Schley County in said State of Georgia on the 4th day of Oct., 1927, and that she has not since married; that she became the wife of W.W. Dykes on the 12th day of Feby., 1874; that she and he had resided together as husband and wife, continuously, since 12th day of Feby., 1874, and that W.W. Dykes was the same man who was on the pension roll of said state of Georgia from Schley County when he died. T.C. Tondee Sworn to and subscribed before me, this the 12th day of Oct., 1927. W.C. Stewart, Ordinary of Schley County. Add'l info: Both William Warren Dykes and wife Fannie (English) Dykes are buried at Ellaville Cemetery. Dykes, Fannie G. 4-25-1878 12-30-1940 Dykes, Wm. Warren 12-27-1847 10-04-1927 Using this birth date, W.W. Dykes would have been 16 when he enlisted in the summer of 1864. According to a bio, by Mary Frances Perry Hudson, in the "History of Schley County," his military career entailed being a guard at Andersonville prison.
