Mott, who being sworn according to law, says under oath that she is the widow of E.G. Mott, who was a soldier in the service of the Confederate States, and served as a member of Company G, of the 64th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service on or about the 8th day of July 1863, and was in the Virginia Army up to August 4th 1864. That while in the Army, he was on the _______ day of ______ 1864, that while in the service of the Confederacy in the Army of Virginia, was on _______ day taken sick with some disease unknown to me & sent to field hospital near Petersburgh, Va. & there died of said disease on August 4th 1864. I was at said field hospital a short time after his death & there informed by his comrades in arms & shown the bunk on which he died. Deponent further swears that she was the wife of said deceased soldier during his term of service in the army, and that she has never married since his death; that she became his wife on the 5th day of November 1845, and that she has resided in Georgia continuously since the 16th day of May 1825; that Georgia is her home, and was such on the 23d day of December, 1890, and since said date she has not lived in any other State or locality. Deponent, as the widow of said deceased soldier husband, applies for the pension provided by Act of the General Assembly of Georgia, approved December 23d, 1890, for the pension year ending February 15th, 1892, and herewith tenders the proof of her right to receive the allowance granted by said Act. State of Georgia Sumter County In person came before me, the undersigned Ordinary in and for said county, witnesses James Singleton, George W. Doster and William Duckworth (each known to said Attesting Officer as truthful, reliable and reputable citizens), who severally say under oath, that, from their own personal knowledge, Mrs. Patience D. Mott, of the County of Schley, state of Georgia, is the widow of E.G. Mott, who was a soldier in Company G of the 64th Regiment of Georgia Volunteers. That said soldier enlisted in the service of the Confederate States on or about the 8th day of July 1863. That while in said service, or by reason of said service in the Army, he lost his life as follows: Was taken sick and sent to the field hospital near Petersburg, Va. and died in said hospital o the 4th day of August 1864. Our opportunity for knowing the facts stated in eference to death of applicant's husband were Wm. Ducjworth says that he was in the field hospital with E.G. Mott when he died. We further swear that Mrs. Patience D. Mott was the wife of said soldier during he service, and that she has not intermarried since his death, and that she resides in Schley County of the state of Georgia. (Note: later filings indicate that the cause of death for E.G. Mott was pneumonia.) Add'l Info: E.G. amd Patience Mott are buried at Feloowship Baptist Church cemetery in Schley County. Patience Mott's stone indicates she was born 16 May 1825 and died 20 may 1906. Her obit is in the Schley Newspaper Archives.
