How do you know? by living near them. 5. How long and since when did you know Marcus A. Perry, her husband? Ever since we were boys together. 6. When and where did Marcus A. Perry, the husband of applicant, die? Don't know exactly. 15 or 20 years ago, in Schley Co. 7. Were the applicant and her husband living together as husband and wife at the date of his death? All my life, 86 years. 3. When, where and to whom were you married? Mark A. Perry, May 10, 1874 in Taylor Co., Ga. near Butler by Rev. E.J. Re?ce a. Have you married since the death of first and soldier husband? No. 4. When, where and in what company and regiment did your husband enlist as a soldier in Confederate Army of Georgia Militia? (State the arms and class of service, and give names of Colonel and Captain) About 1863 in Co. H, 10th Ga. Militia. At close of war at Doctor Town, 10 Ga. Militia, Co. H. 5. When and where did the commands of your husband surrender or discharge from the service? At Doctortown. W.G. Wo??ck ws Captain & was promoted to be a Major. 6. Was your husband personally present with his command when it was surrendered or discharged? Yes. 7-8d. Were n/a and unanswered 8e. What was his physical condition when he left his command? Have you or your husband heretofore been paid a pension by the State of Georgia, or any other State, or the United States? No. If so, when and for what cause were you or your husband placed on the roll? Never was placed. He was worth over $1600.00 & the law then prohibited him from drawing a pension. What is your name and where do you reside? Henry Stewart Sumner, Worth Co., Ga. 2. How long and since when have you known Nancy Perry, applicant? For fifty years. 3. Where does she now reside and since when has she been continuously a bons fide, resident citizen of this state? She lives 5 miles south of Ellaville, Schley Co., Ga. She has lived in Georgia all her life. 4. When and to whom was she married? Mark A. Perry. How do you know? Knew them as man and wife for years. I have visited Mark A. Perry often. I married his & her niece. 5. How long and since when did you know Mark A. Perry, her husband? For 70 years since we were boys. 6. When and where did Mark A. Perry, the husband of applicant, die? At Ellaville, Schley Co., Ga. in 1896. 7. Were the applicant and her husband living together as husband and wife at the date of his death? Yes. 8. If not, how long did they live apart before his death? no answer. Were they divorced? No. 9. When, where and in what company and regiment did Mark A. Perry enlist? Co. H, 10th Ga. Reg. Militia. I went to the Company in Atlanta, Ga. & Mark A. Perry was a member of the company then & we went to Doctortown & we were honorable discharged at the close of the war. 10. How did you obtain your information of this service? I was with him in the service. 11. How long within your personal knowledge did he perform actual military service with this company and regiment? From Jan. 1864 until close war, until surrender. 12. When and where was his command surrendered or discharged? At Doctortown, at close of war. 13. Were you personally present with this command when it was surrendered? Yes. 14. Was the husband of applicant personally present with his command at its surrender? Yes. How do you know all that you have stated to be true? I was with Mark A. Perry in the service about nine months. 15. For what cause, if you know of your own knowledge, was he prevented from returning to his command? Never left. 16. n/a 17. Was he captured as a prisoner? McCants, Sr., who first being duly sworn and upon oath says, that he was present at the marriage of Mark Perry to Miss Nancy McCants which took place in Taylor County, Georgia on the 10th day of May 1874. APPLICATION FOR PENSION DUE TO A DECEASED PENSIONER (To Be Paid to the Ordianry for Expenses of Funeral and Last Illness) Georgia Schley County Personally before me, the Ordinary of said County, comes T.H. Walker of said county, who, after being sworn, on oath says that he knew Mrs. Nancy Perry of said county, and that said pensioner was on the pension roll of said county at the time of death, which occurred in Schley county, in this state, on the 2nd day of Feb. 1928, and that a pension of fifty dollars was due pensioner and unpaid at the time of pensioner's death and that pensioner left no widow or dependent children surviving, and no estate of any value sufficient to pay these funeral expenses, which amounted to the sum of $200, per sworn statements fully and completely itemized hereto attached.
