All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: H Hill http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002514 February 20, 2004, 10:32 am APPLICATION FOR PENSION BY A WIDOW Whose Deceased Husband Was on the Pension Roll of Georgia State of Georgia Schley County Personally before me comes Mrs. Tim Rooks of said County, who after having been duly sworn, says that she is the widow of Tim Rooks, to whom, in the County of Terrell, State of Georgia, she was married on the 10th day of Dec. 1872, and that she remained his wife, and resided with him to the date of his death in July 20th, 1930 and that she has not since his death remarried; at the time of his death he was a resident of Schley County, in said state of Georgia, and he was on the Pension Roll of the State and paid a pension of $30.00 per month in Schley County for 1930, on account of being a soldier in Company B, Cutts Artillery Regiment, Georgia Volunteers. That she is now a bona fide resident citizen of said State of Georgia and she has, continuously, resided there since 10th day of December 1872. AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS TO PROVE MARRIAGE AND DATE OF DEATH OF HUSBAND. State of Georgia Schley County Personally before me comes W.L. Reid known to be a responsible and truthful person, residing in said county, who after having been duly sworn, says that of deponent's own personal knowledge, Mrs. Tim Rooks, who made the foregoing affidavit, is the lawful widow of Tim Rooks who died in Schley County in said state of Georgia on the 20th day of July 1930, and that she has not since remarried; that she became the wife of Tim Rooks on the 10th day of Dec. 1872 and that Tim Rooks was the man who was on the pension rool of said state of Georgia from Schley County when he died. Add'l Info: From material submitted by Pam Greene Register in the History of Schley County, we learn that Tim Rooks was born Oct. 13, 1844 in Sumter Co. and Mrs. Rooks was Narcicuss Amanda Lansford of Chambers Co., AL. Amanda Rooks died Sept. 16, 1938 at age 95. This is much more information on the Rooks family in the History of Schley County and very nice picture of the couple.
