What is your name and where do you reside? Brad Teel. Schley County, Ga., Ellaville, Ga. 2. How long and since when have you been a resident of this state? since ?? day of July, 1828. 3. When and where were you born? (looks like) Ala. 4. When and where and in what company and regiment did you enlist or serve? Enlisted June 1861 at Americus, Ga. in Company "A" 12th Ga. Regiment. 5. How long did you remain in such company and regiment? During the entire war. 6. For how long a period did you discharge regular military duty? During the war. 7. When, where and under what circumstances were you discharged from service? Discharged at close of war. I was wih my command. 8. What is your present occupation? Farming. 9. How much can you earn per annum by your own exertions or labor? Very little. 10. What has been your occupation since 1865? Farming. 11. Upon which of the following grounds do you base your application for pension, viz: firsy, "age and poverty," second, "infirmity and poverty," or third, "blindness and poverty"? No answer. 12. If upon the first ground, state how long you have been in such condition that you could not earn your support? If upon the second, give a full and complete history of the infirmity and its extent? If upon the third, state whether you are totally blind and when and where you lost your sight? 1st. Age and poverty-for the past six years. 13. What property, effects or income do you possess, and its gross value? No property. 14. What property, effects or income did you possess in 1894, 1895, 1896, 1897, 1898 and 1899 and what disposition, if any, did you make of same? No property 1894to 1899. 15. In what county did you reside during those years and what property did you then return for taxation? Schley County, Ga. 1894 to 1899. 16. How were you supported during the years 1898 and 1899? Work of family. 17. How much did your support cost for each of those years, and what portion did you contribute thereto by your own labor or income? About $50.00. I contributed very little. 18. What was your employment during 1898 and 1899? What pay did you receive in each year? Farming. No pay. 19. Have you a family? If so, who composes such family? Give their means of support? Have they a homestead? I have a family. Wife & daughters, farming. No homestead. 20. Are you receiving any pension? If so, what amount, and for what disability? No pension. QUESTIONS FOR WITNESS State of Georgia Schley County William Kidd, of said State and County, having been presented as a witness in support of the application of Brad Teel for pension under Section 1254, Code, and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the following questions, deposes and answers as follows: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? William Kidd. Schley County. 2. Are you acquainted with Brad Teel, the applicant;if so, how long have you known him? I am. Known him 40 years. 3. Where does he reside, and how long and since when has he been a resident of this state? Schley County, Ga. Ever since I have known him. 4. When, where and in what company and regiment did he enlist, and how do you know? Enlisted Co. A, 12th Ga. Reg. Because I was in same Regt. 5. Were you a member of the same company and regiment? I was in same regt. 6. How long did he perform regular military duty, and what do you know of his service as a Confederate soldier, and the time and circumstances of his discharge from the service? Were you present with command when discharged? For 4 years. Made a good soldier. Was with him when he got his discharge. 7. What property, effects or income has the applicant? No property. Because I live near him. 8. What property, effects or income did the applicant possess in 1896, 1897, 1898 and 1899 and what disposition, if any, did he make of same? Had no property. 9. Has he conveyed away any of his property in the last four years, if so, what was it, and to whom? Had no property to coney. 10. What is the applicant's occupation and physical condition? Farming. He is old and feeble. 11. Is the applicant unable to support himself by labor of any sort, if so, why? He is unable to support himself for he is old and feeble. 12. How was he supported during the years 1898 and 1899? By his family. 13. What portion of his support for these two years was derived from his own labor or income? Very little. 14. Give a full and complete statement of the applicant's physical condition that entitles him to a pension under section 1254, Code? Old and infirm, not able to work and no property of any kind. 15. AFFADAVIT OF PHYSICIANS State of Georgia Schley County Personally came before me, R.T. Bivins and J.N. Cheney, both known to me as reputable physicians of said county, who, being sevrally sworn, sayon oath they have examined carefully _______________, applicant for pension under section 1254, code, and after such personal examination say that his precise physical condition is as follows: 71 years old, feeble & ????? Was wounded in the right knee just at ????? which renders his knee unable to perform its natural function. They further say on oath that the physical condition of applicant renders him unable to labor at any work or calling sufficient to earn a support for himself, and that we have no interest in said pension being allowed. APPLICATION FOR PENSION DUE DECEASED SOLDIER (To be paid to his widow or dependant children) Under Act Approved October 9, 1891 State of Georgia Schley County Personally befor me comes Mrs. Brad S. Teel, of said county, who after being duly sworn, on oath says she is the widow of Brad S. Teel who was enrolled as a pensioner from the county of Schley and was paid a Pension of one hundred dollars from Schley County for 1920, and that said Brad S. Teel died in Schley county on the 3rd day of March 1921, and at the time of his death a pension of $125.00 was due him from Schley county and unpaid for 1921. Applicant furhter swears that she married the said Brad S. Teel on the 2nd day of Feb. 1894, in Schley county and state of Georgia, and resided with him from the date of marriage to his death as his lawful wife, and is now his dependent widow, and she asks the Pension so due and unpaid be paid to her. AFFIDAVIT OF WITNESS State of Georgia Schley County Personally before me comes Miss Catherine McLendon, who on oath says that she knew Brad S. Teel while in life and that she knows Mrs. Brad S. Teel, the above applicant; that she knows that the said Brad S. Teel and Mrs. Brad S. Teel were in due form of law married in the county of Schley in the state of Georgia on the 2nd day of Feby. 1894, and that they resided together as huband and wife from the date of marriage to the day of his death on the 3rd day of March 1921.
