The Atlanta Constitution August 21, 1885
COLUMBUS CHRONICLES
Columbus, Ga., August 20.--(Special)--On yetserday Mr. S.J. Wynn went to the 
house of his wife's mother, at Ellaville, and asked to see his children.  He 
and his wife had not been getting along well together and he had gone to live 
with her mother.  Mr. Wynn stated that he was going to Texas and desired to 
see his children once more before leaving.  Mrs. Wynn took the children into 
the room where Wynn was waiting, and he suddenly snatched up a little girl 
about two and a half years old, and fled from the house.  He sprang into a 
buggy, which he had ready at the gate, and ordered the driver to put a whip to 
the horses.  Mrs. Wynn was terribly shocked by the unexpected turn the affair 
had taken, and though a feeble woman, she ran after the buggy and followed it 
on foot seven miles.  She then reached the house of a relative who took her on 
to Buena Vista in a buggy.  From there she came to this city accompanied by a 
Mr. French, and reached here about 12 o'clock last night.  The police were at 
once put on the look out for Wynn, but a dilligent search this morning failed 
to find him.  Today about noon Mrs. Wynn received a telegram from Buena Vista 
stating that Wynn had been arrested at Glenalta by the sheriff of Marion 
county.  She left at once for that place, and if does not voluntarily give up 
the child a legal fight will ensue.  Wynn formerly lived in this city, and was 
a member of the firm of Mcintosh & Wynn.

In looking at the Schley marriage records, I find a record of marriage of S.J. 
Wynn to Minnie Wiggins on Nov 19 1877
