D. Sears, prominent Ellaville citizen, celebrated his 86th birthday recently in that city. Dr. Sears is the next eldest man in Schley county, T. J. Poole being the eldest. He is the son of the late Dr. W. J. Sears and was born a little more than one year before the county of Schley was formed. Medicine was chosen as his profession and, after graduating in Augusta, when he was 21 years of age, he hung out his shingle in Ellaville, in partnership with his father. Except for a year or two when Dr. Sears lived in Smithville, he has resided in Ellaville his entire life. He is active in all lines of church work, always present at church services, unless illness prevents. Dr. Sears retired from the practice of medicine 14 years ago. Mrs. Sears, 81, prepared the birthday dinner, to which a few friends were invited. Many gifts and congratulatory messages were received.
