Fishing with nets will not be allowed; and any person whomsoever caught fishing with nets in the mill-pond in and around the bream beds will be dealt with according to law. No boats will be allowed on the mill-pond, and no person will be allowed to fish the bream beds in the mill-pond from a boat. This April 18th, 1911. (Transcriber's note: The pond located on land lot 198 in the 30th district is southwest of Ellaville and is feed by Little Muckalee Creek. It appears to be located near where S.R. 153 crosses the creek. Dozier's mill? If any of you better acquainted with the geography and history of this area could tell us the name of the mill and any more about it, I'm sure that would be appreciated. The subsequent story would lead one to conclude that the fishing at Dozier's Mill Pond in 1911 must have been exceptional.) The Schley County News Friday, May 19, 1911 FISHING CLUB HAS BEEN ORGANIZED Number of Members Includes 25---Club House Will Be Erected Not to be outdone by our suburb Americus, Ellaville has now a full-fledged fishing club, twenty-five of our foremost citizens having purchased the fishing privileges of Dozier's mill pond from J.C. Rainey, the present owner. At a meeting of the club Monday night, Mr. H.J. Williams was elected president; J.H. Cheney, secretary and E.J. Hart, treasurer. Suitable by-laws were drawn up and subscribed to, and it goes without saying that all of the clubs, societies, etc., this is the most popular. The only restrictions placed on the club is that no person outside of the members' immediate family be allowed to partake of the privileges of the pond. One or two new boats will be placed in the pond and a boat house built. One of the possibilities of the future in connection with the club is an elegant club house well fitted up where ye fishermen may revel in luxury and spend the summer in trying to induce the finny tribe to nibble at the wily worms, so temptingly placed before them. Success to the fishing club! May its every aim be achieved and much pleasure enjoyed on the bank's of Dozier's.
