The Schley County News June 30, 1911
TWENTY-FIFTH ANNIVERSARY
Friends of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Lumpkin were invited on last Wednesday to join
them in celebrating their twenty-fifth anniversary and a most enjoyable
occasion it proved.  About 150 guests assembled at their pretty home near
here to the pleasures of the day, and to wish for this happy couple many
more years of married bliss.  The large number of handsome presents they
received attested the high esteem in which this couple is held, and will
ever be cherished by them as mementos of a happy occasion.  At 12:30 a
sumptuous repast of barbeque, fried chicken, chicken pie, ice cream, cakes,
lemonade and all the other accessories was served on a long table neath the
shady boughs of trees just outside the yard.  Later, watermelon, red and
juicy, was served.  As the evening shadows appeared, the guests dispersed,
feeling that another bright page had been added to memory's tablet, and
thanking Mr. and Mrs. Lumpkin for their unbounded hospitality.  Such
occasions brighten the path of life and are never to be forgotten by those
participating.
