LIGHTNER TO GO OVERSEAS FOR DUTY IN JAPAN SELFRIDGE AIR FORCE BASE (MICH.)--Maj. Hansel "Hack" (?) E. Lightner, globe trotting World War II veteran, son of Mrs. Bessie Lou Lightner of Ellaville, today was bound for foreign shores again. This time he goes to Japanese Air Defense headquarters at Nagoya after three years as electronics and communications director of Tenth Air Force and its 13 state Midwest headquarters here. The 44 year old Georgian is to report at Parks AFB, California--his point of embarkation--Sept. 15. Lightner's 13 year miltary career includes three years of occupation duty in Germany and 15(?) months World War II service in Burma with what then was the infant Tenth AF before finding himself reassigned to Tenth at Selfridge. His attractive, blonde wife, Leah, will join him at Nagoya after first visiting her native Lebanon, Ky. Additional Comments: Hansel Eli Lightner b. Mar. 11, 1910 d.
