The Atlanta Constitution  
The Atlanta Constitution  May 3, 1870

At a meeting at Ellaville, Ga., the citizens of Schley county authorized the 
Ordinary to subscribe fifty thousand dollars to the stock of a proposed 
railroad from Newnan or Columbus, intersecting the Macon and Brunswick Road, 
provided the road passed through Ellaville.

Additional Comments:
Fifty thousand dollars in 1870 is an enormous amount.
