Allen is a candidate for sheriff of Schley County at the January election, and from all we can learn stands a very good chance of being elected. He at one time served the county in that capacity and made a good sheriff. Mr. Allen is a clever, an honest and capable man, and when it is taken into consideration that he was an old confederate soldier, with one leg shattered with bullets, disabling him from manual labor, he should receive the kind consideration of the people of Schley for the office of sheriff. Additional Comments: Transcribers note: I was unable to determine if Mr. Allen won the election for sheriff due to missing issues of the Patriot during the month of January 1889.
