Ellaville

Miss Sallie Cheney, daughter of Dr. J.N. Cheney, left last week to attend
college in Cuthbert.

A.J. Cleghorn, one of the best drummers on the road, of Macon, was in the
city this week.

Miss Fannie Wallis, of Buena Vista, is visiting the family of I (or J) N.
Mott.

Miss Jessie Peacock, one of our most charming young ladies, left this week
to attend college in Forsyth.

Miss Lilla Rees, of Buena Vista, has returned home after a pleasant visit to
Miss Anna Clait Amos.

Miss Addie Smith, will leave soon to attend Wesleyan.

Miss Rosa Baldwin will attend college in Thomaston.

Eddie Cheney will leave for Emory college in a few days.

Miss Nettie Gilmore, of Oglethorpe, is visiting Misses Rosa Baldwin and
"Sunbeam" Smith.

Miss J. Lee McCrary (McCrory?), of Oglethorpe, is visiting relatives here.

Captain C.L. Peacock has sold his beautiful residence and plantation to Mr.
A.C. Murray, and the captain will soon leave for north Georgia to engage in
raising fine stock.  We regret very much to see him leave, and the people
with whom he cast his lot will be fortunate for he is a progressive man,
farming on the exyensive plan and a perfect gentleman.

We regret to announce the serious illness of Mrs. Dr. J.N. Cheney, who is
suffering with a paralytic stroke.  She is not expected to recover.  (Note:
Annie Stewart Cheney died Sept. 17th, 1888 and is buried at Ellaville
cemetery  [Cheney, Annie 1-22-1847 9-17-1888].  She was the first wife of
Dr. Cheney)
