Hixon on the charge of murder. W.H. McCrory respresented the State and C.R. McCrory the defendant. The evidence was in substance as follows: Butler Ross, the defendant, was a nurse for Jordon Wilson, and Wilson whipped Butler. For this Butler built a fire in the cradle where the eight months old child of Jordan was sleeping, and burned it to death. The defendant was only eight years old, and seemed not to understand that he had done anything wrong. Justice Hixon, after hearing the evidence, ordered the defendant discharged, as he was too young to be amenable to the law. Additional Comments: I know we have several McCrory researchers on this list. Perhaps one of them will explain the relationship between the two McCrory attorneys.
