Woods, which occurred in August, 1907. His early life was passed in the state of Alabama, and his first services for the Confederacy ws with the 18th Alabama Regiment. He was transferred to the 5th Ga. Regiment, in both of which commands he served with patriotism and gallantry. He had lived to be an advanced age (years not given); but whenever possible he would meet with the Camp, taking an eager interest in its work. Resolutions to his honor were passed by the Camp, by which his memory is held in respect and affection. Additional Comments: William Alexander Woods was a veteran of Co. G, 5th Ga. Vol. Inf. He was born 2 Aug 1831 in Lancaster Dist., S.C., d. 3 May 1907. He is buried at Oakview cemetery, Albany, Ga., and is the brother of James Franklin Woods of Schley Co., also in the same Co. and Regiment. His transfer occurred from the 18th Alabama to Co. G, 5th Ga. while both outfits were stationed at Pensacola, Fla. in the early days of the war. He pension application may be viewed in the Schley Lilitary Archives. I regret that I failed to record the Vol. and date of the Confederate Veteran. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
