Collins of Ellaville The Crystal Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. William Homer Collins of Ellaville, Dec. 14th, the editor and wife being amount the fortunate out of town guests, was in every way a most elegant affair. People from all parts of the state were in attendance. Their home, one of the prettiest in the town is centrally located. The decorator for this occasion was indeed an artist, money and taste combined made this home most exquisite in green and white. Parlor, hall, dining room and cloakroom all bore evidence of the artist’s touch. Southern smilax draped the walls, ferns and palms filled nooks and corners. Little Misses Thelma and Dorothy Collins served punch. These dainty little maidens dressed in green presiding in their bowery of greenery presented a picture of fairyland. The receiving line, headed with Mr. and Mrs. Homer Collins, reached entirely around the room. Mrs. Collin’s stately beauty was enhanced by the becoming gown she wore, exquisite net over yellow satin. In the center of the dining room was a beautiful table, with a handsome lace covering, the centerpiece being a punch bowl, filled with white carnations, narcissus and lace ferns, malaga grapes fringed the edge of the bowl. Dainty white maline extended from the chandelier to the four corners of the table and terminated in graceful airy love knots. Green and white bon bons were served from this table. The guests were served a most elegant luncheon in buffet style. As they passed from dining room into the hall, delicious hot coffee and whipped cream were served. Back to the parlor another feast awaited – music just the kind to be in keeping with this grand affair. In the right hand parlor, the cut glass upon display and such a display it was! Cut glass in every conceivable design. There was no mistaking the occasion – “A crystal wedding.” This reception was followed the next day by a sumptuous dining given complimentary to the out of town guests and relatives. Two hours were consumed in serving this dinner, four elaborate courses, followed by punch. Mr. and Mrs. Collins are not to be surpassed, and seldom equaled in hospitality. “May they live to celebrate their golden wedding” was the unanimous wish of the guests of both occasions. Mr. and Mrs. Benns are indebted to not only Mr. and Mrs. Collins, but other friends, for courtesies shown them, among them: Miss Mary Williamson, Mrs. Enoch Collins, Mrs. R.H. Strange and Mrs. Peacock and daughters. NOTE: Judith Gresham Pearl Tyson and William H.
