AUTRY, 78, DIES MONDAY Final tribute was paid James Durrell Autry, 78, well-known retired LaCross farmer who died Monday, at funeral services held at the residence Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Mr. Autry passed away Monday morning at 3 o'clock after an illness of about five years. Born in Salem community of Sumter county, he was the son of James and Martha Autry. He moved to LaCross community at the age of 11 and had lived there since that time. The Rev. Charles D. Carter and Rev W.S. Johnson officiated at the funeral and burial was in Ellaville cemetery, Survivors include his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Leo Williams, Mrs. Will Williams and Miss Myrtle Autry, all of Schley county; one son, Westbrook Autry, Schley county; two sisters, Mrs. J.J. Murray, Ellaville and Mrs. W.J. Payne, Americus; and 15 grandchildren. Pallbearers were C.H. Burt, C.H. Mauk, J.J. Holloway, L.L. Holloway, Clay Fletcher and Howard Greene. Additional Comments: 1940 was a leap year so their were 29 days in February. According to Schley marriage records, Mr. Autry's widow was formerly Miss Lucy Wells.
