BALDWIN ENTERS GREAT BEYOND Former Citizen Dies at Bremen Our people where shocked on last Saturday morning when the sad intelligence flashed over the wire that Major Baldwin was dead, for although it was known that he was in failing health, little did we realize his end was so near. Major Baldwin was for many years one of Ellaville's staunchest citizens. He helped build up the town and watched her institutions grow with pride and interest. He was active in everything that pertained to the upbuilding of his fellow citizens, and ready with his influence and purse to help all that was good. Broad indeed and liberal in his views, he made friends among all classes and was held in high esteem by his fellow man. Ellaville never had a citizen that took more interest in her welfare than did Major Baldwin and his moving to another city a few years ago, was a source of deep regret to all. Upright in his dealings, honest in his purpose, and true to every good impulse, he lived as he died, respected by his comrades and full fellowship with the world. Major Baldwin reared a large family of children, all of whom have families, except one son. At the time of his death he was living with his daughter, Mrs. G.W. Chipley at Bremen, Ga. He had passed the three score years and ten mile-post, and was ready to leave life's trials, and be with his loved ones on the other shore. His remains were interred in Marshalville beside those of his wife, where they await the resurrection morn. To the bereaved ones we tender our sincerest sympathy and point them to the Lord God who alone can comfort them in their hour of sorrow.
