MR. J.L. BARNEY, 77, DIES FRIDAY
Mr. J.L. Barney, 77, well known Schley county farmer, died at his home at 
Murray's Cross Roads Friday, December 26, after a long illness.  Funeral 
services were conducted at County Line Baptist church, of which he was a 
member, Saturday afternoon by the Rev. C.D. Carter and burial was in the 
church cemetery.  A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Barney resided in north 
Georgia a number of years before moving to Schley county about 25 years ago.  
He had served as police chief of Ellaville.  Survivors include three 
daughters, Misses Fay and Hazel Barney, of Schley county, and Miss Meryl 
Barney, of Atlanta, three sons, D.O. and O.R. Barney, of Atlanta and Ralph E. 
Barney, of Mauk, Ga.  Mr. Barney had many friends who are saddened by his 
passing.


Additional Comments:
The Georgia Death Index indicates a date of death of Dec 27, 1941 (age 78) for 
Jesse L. Barney, his wife having died in Schley County, 26 Oct. 1935.
