EDNA BATTLE, 87, PASSES MONDAY Mrs. Edna Battle, 87, oldest woman in Schley county, died early Monday at the home of her son, R.E. Battle, in Ebenezer community, with whom she had been making her home. She had been in declining health for a long period. Funeral services were held at Friendship Baptist church, Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock, EWT, with Dr. Lucius M. Polhill in charge. Born and reared in Marion county, she was Miss Edna Ross. At 16, she was married to John Randolph Battle, who died 50 years ago. She was a member of the Baptist church and at the time of her death was affiliated with First Baptist church, Americus. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lottie Livingston, of Clearwater, Fla., and one son, R.E. Battle, of Schley county; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Henry Simms, E.R. Jordan, R.N. Deriso, C.T. Battle, Scott Hart and George Dozier.
