REV. MR. DANIEL IS PAID TRIBUTE
The Rev. J.C. Daniel, 60, prominent Baptist minister and for many years a 
citizen of Ellaville, was paid final tribute Monday afternoon at funeral 
services conducted at the Baptist church at 3 o'clock.  Rev. Mr. Daniel died 
about 7 o'clock Saturday night after an illness of six weeks.  The Rev. Hugh 
Dozier officiated, and was assisted by the Rev. Roy J. Bond, and Dr. L.M. 
Polhill, of Americus.  Burial was in Ellaville cemetery.  A native of Schley 
county, Rev. Mr. Daniel was the son of William and Molly Stevens Daniel.  He 
was a farmer of Ebenezer community for many years.  Ordained as a Baptist 
minister in 1910, he filled pastorates of many churches in Schley, Taylor, 
Talbot and Marion counties, including Fellowship, County Line, Mauk, Shiloh, 
Horeb, Friendship Baptist Association.  he always took a leading part in the 
Marion, Draneville and Horeb Baptist Association.  In 1902 he married Miss 
Alma Arrington of Sumter county.  His friendliness endeared him to many, and 
his spirit of service gained him wide influence for Christian living.  The 
American Red Cross attempted to notify the minister's eldest son, Maxwell, 
with the U.S. Army, of his passing, but was able to learn only that the 
soldier was "out of the United States."  His mailing address is San Francisco, 
Cal.  Surviving besides his widow, are one daughter, Mrs. Henry Robinson, 
Columbus; four sons, Max, Milton, Middletown, Pa.; Evan, Thomaston; Woodrow, 
Ellaville; two half sisters, Mrs. Deal Jordan, Sumter county; Mrs. Turner 
Large, Sanford, Fla.; three half brothers, Arthur Tatum, Meigs; Emmet Tatum, 
Watertown, New York; Joe Tatum, Sanford, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.  
Pallbearers were M.J. Arrington, W.A. Manning, Clark C. Williamson, Thomas 
Jennings, A.L. Kidd and Marvin E. Phillips.


Additional Comments:
John C. Daniel does not appear on the survey of Ellaville cemetery.  I presume 
he must be in an unmarked grave there.
