Dillard, 58, of Hawkinsville who died unexpectedly at his home last Tuesday night, were conducted at the graveside here last Thursday afternoon. A former Ellaville citizen, Mr. Dillard served as county convict warden, Ellaville Chief of Police and head of the Schley county state highway force during his residence here. He was transferred to Hawkinsville by the state highway department in October, 1930. Born in Marion county, Feb. 18, 1881, Mr. Dillard was the son of W.H. and Sarah Jane Dillard. When a young man he married Miss Anna Kiser. He was a member of the Baptist church. During his long residence here, Mr. Dillard made many friends who regret his passing. Surviving besides his widow are one daughter, Christine, Savannah; four sons, Ralph and Alva, Savannah; Colquitt, Hawkinsville, Eugene, Cordele; one brother, J.E. Dillard, Columbus; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Cranford, Pelham; Mrs. W.H. Laine, Cochran; Mrs. J.G. Jackson, Ashburn.
