The death at noon on Thursday of Mr. Eugene Dixon, a prominent merchant and citizen of Ellaville, was quite a shock to his relatives and friends. Mr. Dixon had been ill with pneumonia for several days and while his condition was serious it was not believed to have been critical. Mr. Dixon was 47 years of age, a man of most excellent character and high social and business standing. He was brother of Mr. Olin Dixon of Americus, while his wife who with three children survives him, is a daughter of Mr. Henry S. Davis, of this city. Mr. Dixon was a man of sterling worth and integrity and his death will be generally deplored.- Americus Times-Recorder (Note: Eugene B. Dixon was the son of Pleasant Freeman Dixon & Mary George Askew. He married Lillie Davis 1-30-1884, both are buried in the Ellaville Cemetery).
