DREW The death of Mrs. J(ohn) J. Drew, a highly respected lady of this county, which occured on last Saturday afternoon, came as a great shock and surprize to all. Mrs. Drew, in company with her husband came to Ellaville Saturday afternoon to do some shopping, while at Strange & Arrington's store she was suddenly siezed with a severe stroke of paralysis and so soon as she could be moved, she was carried to her home by Dr. Jordan. After reaching home, which is only a few miles from Ellaville, Mrs. Drew only lived a short while. She is survived by her husband and several children, all of whom having the entire sympathy of our people. The burial and funeral services took place at old Ebenezer on Sunday afternoon, Rev.C.D.Carter officiating. Ebenezer Baptist Church Minutes (transcribed by Debbie Moore) In memory of Sister Drew Our beloved sister at the ripe age of 52 years old was called from earth to her last reward June 19th 1909. Mrs.Drew ( __ Ingrum) was born July 4th 1857 was married to John J. Drew May 23-1880. She and her husband and family came from Webster county some 5 or 6 years ago to Schley county. She has been for about 5 years a member of Ebenezer Church and a useful one. Though in her last days of feeble health she was not permitted to attend and do for the lord as it was her former delight. She were always willing to give to the lords cause and was a great pleasure to her to visit the sick and needy. She bore her last illnes with patience and died triumphant in a living faith. She leaves 3 daughters and 3 sons and 5 step children and a host of friends to morn her loss. Therefore it be resolved: 1st That in the death of our beloved sister the church _?_ the loss of one of its truest members and family a affectionate mother the community a most _?_ nights. 2nd That we _?_ our deepest synpathy to the bereaved family and pray gods richest blessings to abide with them. 3rd That a copy of these resilutions be spread upon the church record and a copy sent to the bereaved family and that sutible mentions of her death be sent to the Schley County news and Christian Index for publication.
